  • Gender and queer-affirming therapy is a form of counseling that is specifically designed to support and affirm individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or other non-cisgender, gender non-conforming, and non-heteronormative identities). This approach recognizes the unique challenges, experiences, and mental health needs of LGBTQ+ individuals with the aim of providing support and unique strategies to navigate a world that is not always inclusive.

  • Bias-based and/or Race-based Stress and Trauma mental health counseling is a specialized type of therapy that seeks to address the negative impact that racism and bias-based events have on an individual’s mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. These therapy sessions provide support, healing, and navigation strategies for folks who have experienced microaggressions, racial discrimination, and other forms of injustice. Drs. Robert T. Carter and Derald Sue Wing are a few of the pioneers in racial equity.

  • Do you need support with something specific? Maybe you’re looking to try out counseling. Short-term Solution Focused Therapy is a modality focused on strengths-based problem solving and goal-setting. It was developed by Steve de Shazer, Insoo Kim Berg & their colleagues at the Milwaukee Brief Family Therapy Center beginning in the late 1970s.

  • MHC clinical supervisors and licensed counselors/therapists provide individual supervision and professional consultation for associate-level and fully licensed practitioners in California. We are eligible to sign BBS paperwork. We are eager to support mental health professionals continued development in the areas of gender and queer affirming therapy, multicultural competency, somatic therapy, and counselor identity development.
